Using WordPress for Internet Publishing
WordPress is a widely used, open source blog publishing system that can be a very useful technical tool for libraries. OPLIN uses it, for example, for blogging, podcasting, and publishing the weekly OPLIN 4cast RSS feed. In this session OPLIN staff will discuss in detail how they installed and configured WordPress and how they use it on a regular basis for distributing information on the Internet.
This presentation will also address some of the ways that public libraries can utilize publishing tools (customer outreach, project planning, staff input and collaboration, etc.).

The Accessibility of Ohio Public & Academic Library Web Sites, Past & Present

How accessible are the academic and public library web sites in Ohio? How much has accessibility improved in the past few years within these institutions? Data on accessibility guidelines compliance suggests that more attention is needed on this important topic. The presentation will examine the legal framework and the enforcement mechanisms that can be applied to academic and public libraries. Common accessibility barriers identified in the data collection, as well as approaches to satisfying a selection of accessibility guidelines will be examined. Some common tools used to evaluate pages will be presented and explained.
